Basically the original game but with quality of life stuff added. I add the Demiforce hack for anti-piracy, a title screen edit for the accurate name,(adds "Beginnings") and a patch that lowers the difficulty for a smoother experience. So in conclusion, I'd recommend just the regular, original versions of each gameįor Earthbound Beginnings, I put on a few hacks. I REALLY hope you enjoy it overall, though! Not just this game, but this whole series! :D

And if you don't, don't get scared away from the rest of the series, as they are not the same in terms of mechanics and such.

If you can't enjoy this game, that's okay.

Also, this is pretty much the only game where I would suggest you use save states if you need to. You can sprint/run faster (just wanted to mention that because your post does)! Use a guide ( this is the best one by far), because this game IS one of those NES games that doesn't really tell you what to do or where to go. Trust me.įor 1, I'd honestly recommend playing just the original version. If anyone tells you to play this version, don't listen to them. And to top it off, it just looks really ugly. Grinding now takes longer, you NEVER have enough money to revive and stuff when you die, and you will die a lot because since you barely fight anybody, you're incredibly underleveled for the later parts of the game. It nerfs the encounter rate, yes, but that encounter rate was so high in the original because without it, the balancing of the game is COMPLETELY screwed up. The main thing I'll tell you is, DON'T GET LURED INTO PLAYING THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY VERSION.

I'm not too knowledgeable on the different versions of 2 or 3 (though just get the regular fan translation for 3, it's my favorite game of all time), but I do know more about different versions of 1.
